Holiday season

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa is getting into the Christmas spirit with the creation of an astonishing life-size gingerbread house this holiday season.

“We are happy to help create memories and bring tradition to life for those looking for wonderment this Christmas,” said Executive Pastry Chef Rebecca Foy. “We are proud to bring this larger-than-life whimsy and merriment to our guests’ eyes.”

The confectionary feat comes in at nearly 12 feet tall and is 9 feet wide, 10 feet long. The house consists of 2,160 eggs, 540 pounds of flour, 180 pounds of butter and 540 pounds of sugar. To give the house an extra bit of sweetness, 9 pounds of cinnamon and 450 pounds of powdered sugar went into the masterpiece. For an extra pop, 2,398 pieces of candy and 1,968 feet of LED lights adorn the house

Foy and her team started construction on the “Candyland” inspired house in October. The finished project is located in the hotel front lobby.

The design features electricity, a toy train and simulated smoke coming out the chimney.

The decoration also serves as a photo opportunity for the Christmas season. Visitors are welcome to snap pictures. Complimentary gingerbread cookies will be offered to guests stopping by to see the display on Friday and Saturday evenings from 5 to 9 p.m.

In addition to the house, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa creates a winter wonderland with more than two dozen Christmas trees, decorated with a mostly musical theme. A 24-foot-tall tree adorns the Grand Lobby and is synced to classic Christmas music.
