The Ohio Lottery Expands Partnership With Scientific Games

The Scientific Games and Ohio Lottery have extended their successful partnership on Scratch-Off Games management and SCiQ retail point-of-sale technology for two years. The Scientific Games Enhanced Partnership with Ohio Lottery began in 2019 and led the growth of Scratch-Off revenue and state education funding for the fourth consecutive year. Ohio Lottery ranked in Scratch-Office Flacance World's top 20.

Ohio Lottery Scratch-Off revenue managed under Scientific Games Enhanced Partnership increased from $1.6 billion in fiscal 2019 to more than $2.3 billion in fiscal 2023. Ohio Lottery achieved compounded growth of 8.8% versus an average annual of 5% for the top 10 U.S. lotteries (sales per share from FY2019 to FY203).

It also built an SCiQ retail ecosystem at more than 800 Ohio lottery retailers, including two of the largest convenience store chains in the United States and the largest grocery chain in the United States, improving Scratch-Off inventory management and retail real-time sales analytics.

The partnership also provided Ohio Lottery retailers with innovative technologies to easily manage and sell Scratch-off games, adding major convenience store chains such as Circle K and Speedway to make games easier for players across the state.

Scientific Games Enhanced Partnership optimizes Scratch-Offs products with portfolio management and game design services, data-driven analytics, advanced logistics, licensed brand services, and retail sales and marketing support from its Ohio division near Rottery headquarters in Cleveland. The program is used in more than 10 instant game lottery tickets.

"We appreciate the Ohio Lottery with a vision to work with us in instant games to optimize our product portfolio and generate maximum revenue for education," said John Schulz, president of global instant products for American science games. "Ohio was also one of the first lotteries to launch our innovative SCiQ ecosystem in retail stores. This is the first technology in retail stores to help retailers fully manage the lottery categories."

Scientific Games is one of the first companies to be certified as a responsible game provider by the World Lottery Association. With products accounting for 70% of instant scratch game retail sales worldwide, the company is the world's largest instant game maker, creator, and service provider. Scientific Games offers retail and digital games, technology, analysis, and services in 130 lottery tickets in 50 countries around the world, including almost all North American lottery tickets.
