The South Korean national team, led by head coach Lee Young-bok (Chungam High School), won 2-1 against Mexico in Group A of the tournament in Taichung, Taiwan, on the 5th. After losing the first match against Taiwan, South Korea won three consecutive games against the Czech Republic, Australia and Mexico, securing third place in Group A with three wins and one loss.

South Korea will play its final group match against Puerto Rico (three wins), which is currently in second place, on the 6th. In the Baseball World Cup, the top three teams in Group A and Group B will play a super round full league, and the teams that advance to the finals and the 3rd to 4th place will be determined by their combined results. In Group B, Japan (4 wins), the Netherlands (3 wins and 1 loss), and the U.S. (3 wins and 1 loss) confirmed their advance to the Super Round regardless of the rest of the group stage.

The final ranking of Group B will also be decided on the 6th. South Korea gave up one run in the top of the second inning when they faced 0-0 on the day, but tied the score in the bottom of the fifth inning.

With Cho Hyun-min (Chungam High School)'s right-handed hit, Lee Yul-ye (Gangneung High School)'s bunt, and the opponent's fielder's choice, Yeonjun-won (Busan High School) hit a timely left-handed hit to make it 1-1. The national team failed to score additional points, but turned the game around in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Cho Hyun-min made an infield timely hit with a squeeze bunt in a one-out first and third base opportunity caught by Yeo Dong-gun (Seoul High School)'s walk and Lee Seung-min (Whimoon High School)'s right-handed hit. South Korea won the game as it was well past the last defense in the seventh inning.

Cho Hyun-min led the victory with two hits and one RBI in three at-bats, and Hwang Joon-seo (Jang Chung-go), who pitched two outs in the second inning, became a winning pitcher with one hit, no outs, and six strikeouts.
