Kang Jeong-ho's school lead Kim Jae-hwa

Will Kang Jeong-ho’s school also lead Kim Jae-hwan to the path of resurrection?

Kim Jae-hwan (36, Doosan Bears) returned his break after the 2023 season. The fact that he received coach Lee Seung-yeop's one-on-one instruction during the Icheon final training session last fall already became a hot topic. Usually, senior level players are 'excluded' from finishing training, but for Kim Jae-hwan, who has not been able to do his part for the past 2-3 years, it was a luxury.

However, once the final training was over, it attracted even more attention. This is because he gave up his break and flew to Los Angeles, USA, to join the Kang Jung-ho Baseball Academy. Kim Jae-hwan went through intensive batting training again for about a month until the end of December.

He received tutoring from two of the four protagonists of the 'Chu Kang Dae-yeop' controversy. He was clearly determined to restore his honor as a free agent hitter worth 11.5 billion won. In addition, Kang Jeong-ho pointed out through his YouTube channel Kang Jeong-ho_King Kang that Kim Jae-hwan used ground reaction force (the reaction force that occurs when force is applied to the ground) well in the past, but that has disappeared at some point.

At that time, Kang Jeong-ho said that Kim Jae-hwan's bat trajectory was far away from his face, and the hitting point was formed too far behind. I couldn't swing compactly and couldn't handle breaking balls. He also pointed out his weakness of lifting his wrist while trying to react to a breaking ball.

Kim Jae-hwan is off to a good start this season. In 8 games, he had 11 hits in 30 at-bats, a batting average of 0.367, 1 home run, 6 RBIs, 6 runs, and an OPS of 0.965. His only extra-base hits are two doubles and one home run, but he appears to have regained his ability to hit well and produce sharp hits. He has revealed the possibility of his resurrection, although we still have to wait and see because the sample size is small. He has been consistently hitting since the game against the Changwon NC Dinos on the 24th of last month.

His ultimate goal is to regain his slugging power. Kim Jae-hwan's average has fallen over the past year or two, but he only hit 10 home runs last year. In any case, long hits have to come out well and the average has to go up to come out naturally. In that respect, it can be interpreted that he is moving in a desirable direction.

For reference, there were quite a few players who went to Kang Jeong-ho School last winter. Son Ah-seop went again, and Park Se-hyuk (NC Dinos) also trained for about two weeks. Han Dong-hee and Jeong Hoon (Lotte Giants) also flew. However, Han Dong-hee is out due to injury, and Jeong Hoon is also off to a good start with a batting average of 0.333 in 6 games.

On the other hand, Son Ah-seop has a batting average of 0.267 in 6 games, and Park Se-hyuk appears to be having difficulty maintaining his batting ability while alternately wearing a mask with Kim Hyeong-jun. Batting average of 0.250 in 3 games. Kang Jung-ho admitted that he could not save all the players. The most important thing is the ability to digest Kang Jung-ho's advice well and apply it to one's own baseball.
