The Heroes officially announced on Wednesday that they would renew their contract with Dawson.

The club said it signed Dawson for a total of $600,000 (about 790 million won), including $550,000 in annual salary and $50,000 in incentives.

Dawson replaced Edison Russell as the Heroes in July and played in 57 games this season, posting a batting average of 336 (77 hits in 229 at-bats) with three homers, 29 RBIs and nine steals.

"Dawson is a five-tool player type and contributed to the team's victory by playing in various positions such as offense, defense, and baserunning," the club said, explaining the background of the renewal of the contract, "Thanks to his unique cheerful personality, he had a smooth relationship with his teammates and instilled positive energy in the team with a sincere training attitude."

Dawson also said through the club, "I'm happy to play in the KBO League again," adding, "More than anything else, I'm happy to meet the Heroes fans who gave me a lot of love and support."

He also added, "I will do my best to help the team win more next season."
