Tsunayasu Miyamoto, who took office as the new chairman of the JFA, asked him to call his name "Mr. Miyamoto" rather than "Mr. Chairman." In Japan, "~" is known as "~" in Korea.

Japan's leading sports magazine "Nikan Sports" said, "Chairman Miyamoto, who took office as the 15th chairman of the JFA, asked his employees not to call him president."

According to the media, Chairman Miyamoto said, "I don't feel real that I became the chairman," adding, "I want you to call me Miyamoto Award or Tsune Award."

Miyamoto was born in February 1977 and is 47 years old now. As he was searching for a new chairman after the end of his term, Miyamoto, who had expressed his intention to become the chairman, ran as a sole candidate. He was finally confirmed as the chairman after a council meeting and a meeting of doctors in December last year.

After taking office, Miyamoto said on the JFA's official website, "I had a strong desire to make soccer bigger in this country. There are many things I want to do. I want to talk with you properly, find a better way, and raise the status of Japanese soccer both at home and abroad. Let's make a new Japanese soccer together."

Miyamoto was named the youngest ever president. Miyamoto was a former player who played for RB Salzburg (Germany) through Gamba Osaka before retiring from Vissel Kobe. He coached the youth, U-23 and adult teams at his former Gamba Osaka and then became an administrator from 2022 onwards.

He was also the captain of the Japanese national team. Miyamoto, who played in 71 matches for the Japanese national team, led Japan to the round of 16 teams by wearing the captain's armband during the 2002 World Cup Korea-Japan, and won the title at the 2004 Asian Cup. Fans who have seen some soccer games should be well aware of his name.

Is there something different about the young KFA president? Miyamoto wanted to be called by another name instead of the chairman.


Nikkan Sports said, "There were opinions that it would be appropriate to call it 'captain' to Chairman Miyamoto, who has been captain all the time from the U-17 national team to the adult national team, but Chairman Miyamoto said, 'The name is used by Saburo Kawabuchi (former JFA president)," and explained, "I thought about other names besides 'Miyamoto Award'."

Kawabuchi, mentioned by Chairman Miyamoto, is a former JFA president and also served as vice chairman of the Japanese organizing committee for the 2002 World Cup.

According to Nikkan Sports, Miyamoto also said, "There was an opinion about 'Big Boss' in another name, but that's weird, too. I'll think about whether there's a good one. It's been called 'Senim' for 20 years, but this is a little strange, too. My past colleague made fun of me about this," he said with a smile.

In the meantime, the media said, "Anyway, the newly appointed chairman Miyamoto is looking for a new name that is loved."
