Korea University held an inauguration ceremony for its new coach Kim Ji-hoon at Songchu Baseball Stadium in Gyeonggi Province on the 23rd. Korea University, which has produced numerous star players, including current KBO President Heo Gu-yeon, Sun Dong-yeol, Sanghoon Lee, Son Min-han and Jung Geun-woo, has consistently produced professional players last year, with ace Jung Ji-hun wearing LG uniforms. The new head coach Kim will be appointed as the 10th head coach of Korea University's baseball department following his predecessor Gil Hong-kyu.

Kim Ji-hoon, the new coach, is actually quite familiar with Mokdong Stadium. While serving as the head of the KIA Tigers' scouting team, he nominated many talented people and had extensive field experience, which led to many evaluations that he was the right person for the Korea University coach.

After graduating from Yeongjung Elementary School, Shinil Middle School, Shinil High School, and Korea University in Seoul and starting his career with the Samsung Lions in 1998, he moved to the KIA Tigers from 2001 to 2004, ending his active career. He also served as a battery coach and scout team leader as a front-end member of the KIA coaching staff from 2005. He also served as a battery coach for the Doosan Bears from 2021 after serving as the Sangmu Phoenix Baseball Team in 2020.

He played five seasons in the first division as a catcher, mainly as a backup, but after retirement, he left a career beyond his active career. In particular, Choi Won-joon, Jeon Sang-hyun, and Lee Jin-young (transfer to Hanwha) were selected at the 2016 season rookie nomination meeting, which made his first debut as a scout team leader, creating the framework for KIA.

Currently, outfielder Kim Young-hoo (graduated from Gangneung High School), a former youth representative, pitcher Kang Chae-woon, who played outstandingly at Masan Yongmago last year, and Kim Jae-ik, a former Jangchung High School leadoff, are holding out at Korea University's baseball team.
