Yang Hong-seok's poor performance

Changwon LG defeated Busan's KCC 101-92 in the 2023-2024 regular basketball league held at Sajik Indoor Stadium in Busan on the 22nd. It has won nine straight games. It solidified its second place with 34 wins and 17 losses. It also finished its showdown with KCC this season with four wins and two losses.

LG lost all three games to Seoul SK in the 2022-2023 semifinal playoff, but LG almost maintained its previous power. It could spend the 2023-2024 season with a foreign player combination consisting of Asem Maray (202 cm, C) and Dante Cunningham (203 cm, F).

He also recruited Yang Hong-seok (195 cm, F) from the FA (free agent) market. He is a resource considered one of the biggest forwards. He has various strengths including physical and athletic ability, rebound and three-point shooting. He needs to grow into the present and future of LG.

However, he failed to display remarkable performance in the three games after the season opened. He averaged 29 minutes and 12 seconds in the three games after the season opened, but posted poor performance with 7.0 assists and 7.0 assists per game. His three-point shooting success rate, one of his strong skills, was only about 21.4 percent (1.0/4.7 per game).

LG Electronics is also set to lose its third straight game. Yang could have been more burdened. However, LG regained its natural strength from the fourth game, and Yang also relieved the burden. He has 13.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists for 27 minutes and 40 seconds on average in 50 games. He has displayed outstanding performance given the amount of time he has played.

And when Maray left due to injury, Yang Hong-seok held on well. He did everything his team wanted, including defense and rebounding. LG was also on the rise. LG, which has been on the rise, is again looking over direct tickets to the playoffs.

Yang Hong-seok, who played as the third player in the court, matched Jeong Chang-young (193 cm tall, G). He pushed Jeong with physical strength and strength. In other words, it was a miss match. That was why he was able to attack with confidence. He easily scored the first goal.

Yang actively played 1-1 with Jung afterwards as well. If that didn't work, he played 2-1 with Maray. The score was 2-2 in small spaces, but he helped Maray score with a fine pass.

He also cleverly responded to KCC's defense in the next attack. He passed fast to Lee Jae-do (180 centimeters, G), who gave and played at the baseline. He helped Lee's reverse layup.

However, LG finished the first quarter with a score of 23-24. Yang had to cheer up a little more. However, LG players, including Yang, were pushed back by KCC's defense. The team was also defeated by KCC's strong physical fight, and LG lost 25-36 just 3:15 into the second quarter.

And Yang struggled in the defense. He found it difficult for Lee (197 cm, F), who was stronger than himself. This caused quite a mess in LG's defense.

Having failed to defend itself, LG was in a hurry. The strikers failed to produce substantial effects. This served as an excuse for counterattacks. LG allowed counterattacks, but was outscored 32-43 even 3 minutes and 34 seconds before the end of the second quarter. LG manager Cho Sang-hyun had to call for the final timeout in the first half.

LG committed a turnover in its first attack after a timeout. However, it succeeded in subsequent defense, and Yang Hong-seok ran to the right corner for the attack. Lee Jae-do's pass was finished with three points, creating a chasing atmosphere.

Yang's willingness to pursue the team did not stop there. In his next attack, he also showed his willingness by shooting a three-point shot. Maray's offensive rebound was finished with three points. LG almost lost to a double-digit deficit in the first half, but ended the first half 43-52.

Yang started the third quarter on the bench. Jung Hee-jae (196 cm, F) replaced him. Jung Hee-jae is a seasoned defender. He defended Lee more effectively than Yang Hong-seok. And he elevated the mood by scoring three points. When Jung completely replaced Yang, LG was able to narrow the gap with KCC, 59-61.

After watching the chase game, Yang went back to the court with 5:01 left before the end of the third quarter. He and Jung formed a front court together. He was able to ease the burden. He did not have to play defense under the basket.

However, Yang failed to keep up with the speed at the moment when Chung broke through. He made a foul at the single breakthrough. Foul that leads to a free throw. Realizing a miss match, LG manager Cho Sang-hyun immediately called Yang. He called him to the bench.

Although Yang Hong-seok stepped down to the bench, LG's offensive end and defensive energy did not subside. In particular, three points stood out. With Justin Gutang (188 cm, F) and Lee Jae-do scoring three points in a row, LG was able to finish the third quarter 78-72.

Even though Yang did not play in the third quarter, LG Electronics ran away with a double-digit margin (84-74) at 2 minutes and 33 seconds into the fourth quarter. This is due to the fact that Goat, who was deployed as the third, and Jeong Hee-jae, who was deployed as the fourth, played their part.

However, Jung Hee-jae was withdrawn due to five fouls 3:59 before the end of the game. Yang Hong-seok had to come out. After coming out again, Yang focused on defense and rebounding. And he spent time calmly on the offensive end. He also actively participated in offensive rebounds. He contributed a little to maintaining the lead. It was a burdensome situation, but he was able to protect his victory.
