'League's second consecutive loss'

The flex futsal Korea (FK) league for the 2023-2024 season of the Korea Football Confederation has wrapped up its four-month run. In the Super League, the first division of the league, Gyeonggi LBFS has won two consecutive games.

Gyeonggi LBFS won 6-1 in the final Super League season match against Seoul Eunpyeong ZD Sports at LBFS Stadium in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province on the 17th. With the victory, Gyeonggi LBFS won the title with 13 wins and two draws (41 points) in 15 games of the season.

Gyeonggi LBFS is breathing new air into the FK League with its foundation in 2021. It is the team that receives the most stable support from its parent company among the 13 teams in the Super and Dream League. It overwhelms other teams in terms of player composition. Shin Jong-hoon, the ace futsal player in Korea, is playing and is the only team in the FK League that has the largest number of foreign players (two in total) per team. Two of them are Sergio and Bilalvada, former Futsal representatives of Brazil and Argentina. Sergio was a star player who even played in the Futsal Champions League in Spain.

Gyeonggi LBFS was promoted to the Super League (Part 1) by winning the Dream League (Part 2) unbeaten in the 2021-2022 season, and was the runner-up in the FK Cup. In the 2022-2023 season, the team won its first championship by blocking Nowon FC's bid for a second consecutive league title with 13 wins and 2 draws, and achieved a "double" by winning the FK Cup. Gyeonggi LBFS, which aimed to win the opening 12 consecutive games this season, failed to achieve that goal, but boasted an overwhelming record of 76 points and 28 goals. The gap between second-place Nowon Sunderland FS and points (22 points, 6 wins, 4 draws and 5 losses) is almost twice as wide.

The LBFS produced the Super League's Most Valuable Player (Shin Jong-hoon), the Most Valuable Player award (Jangseong University coach) and the Goalkeeper award (Lee Kyung-ho). The Super League's top scorer was Kim Young-rok (Gangwon FS), who scored 24 goals.

In the Dream League, Jeonju Magfootsal Club, which was demoted after a playoff last season, won the title, confirming its return to the Super League in a year. Jeonju Magfootsal Club also won the title with 10 wins and two draws.

Gumi FS, a traditional powerhouse, was demoted to the Dream League next season as the lowest ranking team in the Super League. The Goyang Bulls Football Club, which maintained its fifth place in the Super League by one point from behind in the final game of the season, will decide which team will play in the Super League next season through a single playoff. The Goyang Bulls Football Club can stay in the Super League if it ties the home ground. The playoff will take place at Oulim Nuri Gymnasium in Goyang on Tuesday.

The FK League, which had only neutral regions for the season until last season, introduced the home-and-away method starting this season. The change was chosen by the on-site voice that an advanced professional league system should be established, the need for regional marketing, and fans' demands. It was first implemented in the Super League (division 1, 6 teams), and is also preparing to introduce it to the Dream League (division 2, 7 teams) from next season. In the case of the Gyeonggi LBFS, there was also full support, such as the establishment of a training center exclusively for the futsal team. The federation said, "It is positive that home fans' enthusiastic cheering in the league that first introduced the home-and-away method, and we expect it to be of great help in revitalizing the FK League and futsal." The entire FK League match for the 2023-2024 season can be viewed again on YouTube of the Korea Futsal Federation.
