Gen Z released an official statement in Korean and Chinese on its official Weibo account on Tuesday. "We firmly respect and support China's sovereignty and territorial integrity," Gen Z said. "It has been confirmed that the post has not been thoroughly reviewed regarding the contents of Gen Z's social media. We apologize for this and deleted all the information as soon as it was confirmed."

This is an apology for a promotional post about CDZ Taiwan-related events posted on Gen.G's Facebook page. This is because Chinese fans protested when Gen.G called Taiwan a country in a promotional article. Gen.G immediately deleted the post and posted an apology.

When the apology was posted, Korean fans strongly protested. Gen. G. directly stated on the apology, "We respect and support China's sovereignty and territorial integrity." Critics pointed out that the expression "the integrity of the territory" can be interpreted as a story that supports the Chinese side in all regions where China is engaged in territorial disputes.

Korea has been in constant conflict with China over the Northeast Project. The game industry was also plagued by related issues. The Shining Niki incident in 2020 is a case in point. In the process, we apologize for causing a stir by inappropriateness of some word choices and expressions while providing services to esports fans around the world in various languages."
