Controversy is brewing over the face and age of a player who was recently selected for Cameroon's national team.

Spanish media Marca reported on the 29th that "Wilfried Nathan Douala has been selected as a member of Cameroon's national team, which is scheduled to compete in the 2023 African Football Confederation (CAF) Africa Cup of Nations," adding, "But as his face was revealed, there is a controversy over his false age."

Douala is a 17-year-old midfielder who was born on May 15, 2006. Surprisingly, considering the 17-year-old, Duala looks old enough to say that she is in her 40s.

Marca said, "A Cameroonian soccer player (Nathan Douala) is a teenager, sparking controversy. Douala is scheduled to play in the African Cup of Nations, and some claim that she is much older than her profile age."

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will be held in Ivory Coast from Jan. 13 to Feb. 11 next year. Senegal won the title at the last 2021 event.

Cameroon, led by coach Rigobert Song, is aiming to win its first championship in 21 years since 2002. Earlier, Cameroon announced the final 27 entries for this year's event, including Douala, who plays for Victoria United in Cameroon's national league. He is also the youngest player in the Cameroonian national team.

It is very special to be selected for the adult national team at the young age of 17. However, according to Marca, controversy has arisen as his face was revealed, with fans saying, "How can his beard grow like that at 17?" and "He looks over 40 years old."
