CEO following the death of his predecessor Sheldon Adelson

The 65-year-old, a Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper, has served as president and chief operating officer of the Las Vegas-based company, but was placed under temporary control days before Adelson died at 87 after a long battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

The paper reports that Goldstein joined Las Vegas Sands Corporation in 1995 and won a seat on the board of directors at the same time he was appointed to a previous position about 20 years later. He reportedly served as president and chief operating officer of the Venetian resort Las Vegas and 3,000-room Palacho Hotel before serving as president and vice president of global game operations for the casino giant.

Goldstein, a University of Pittsburgh graduate, reportedly wrote to employees of Las Vegas Sands Corporation, describing Adelson as a "mentor and dear friend" and promising to support his predecessor's vision for the Nevada-based company.

"Since his death, I have thought about the best way to honor him and the answer has become very clear. We will move forward with the determination and determination that he will continue to grow this company's position as the industry leader who made us. Mr. Adelson will expect no less."

Patrick Dumont was appointed the most recent president and chief operating officer of the operator, and Randy Hyzak took over as chief financial officer, to fill the vacancy left by Goldstein and Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The newspaper explained that Dumont, 45, married Sivan Okshorne, daughter of Adelson's second wife, Miriam Adelson, and had a career in corporate finance. He joined the ranks of casino operators in 2010 and was appointed as a director after various financial and strategic roles.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Hijack was a relative newcomer who joined Las Vegas Sands Corporation to work as senior vice president and chief accountant. Earlier in the day, the newspaper said Hijack, 50, was hired by Freescale Semiconductors Limited and served as vice president and chief accountant.

"Mr. Adelson's leadership has brought us to the top of the industry and his legacy lives on through 50,000 team members and the iconic real estate he has developed around the world.
