Baseball season is back KBO Exhibition Game/MLB Seoul Series

Demonstration games will be held from the 9th to the 19th. A total of 48 games will be organized. Seoul Series Special Game will be held on the 17th and 18th.
Dodgers and San Diego will open a two-game series on the 20th and 21st.

Baseball season is back. The exhibition game, which is a prelude to the regular season of the KBO (Korea Baseball Organization) League, and the U.S. Major League Baseball (MLB) World Tour Seoul Series begin.

This year's KBO League exhibition games will be held from the 9th to the 19th of this month. A total of 48 games were scheduled, with 10 games per team and 8 games each for the LG Twins and Kiwoom Heroes participating in the MLB Seoul Series.

The 10 KBO League teams will conduct a final check on their strength in exhibition games. It is the final gateway to check the players' skills and physical condition ahead of the regular season, which opens on the 23rd. It is an opportunity for backup and rookie players to show off their presence.

What caught the most attention in the exhibition game was Ryu Hyun-jin, who returned to the Hanwha Eagles after 12 years. Ryu Hyun-jin, who played against Team Blue and White on the 7th, will take the mound for two exhibition games. He will appear as a starting pitcher against the Daejeon KIA Tigers on the 12th and against the Sajik Lotte Giants on the 17th.

The transfer students who changed their uniforms this year will make their debut. Ahn Chi-hong (Hanwha), Kim Jae-yoon and Lim Chang-min (Samsung Lions), who qualified as free agents and found a new team, Kim Kang-min, who transferred to Hanwha through the second draft, and Seo Geon-chang, who signed with KIA, will be on the field.

New regulations introduced starting this season are also attracting attention. In this exhibition game, the Automatic Ball-Strike System (ABS), which is called a robot referee, expanded base size, limits on defensive shifts, and a pitch clock that limits pitching and batting preparation time will be applied. Pitch Clock will be piloted until the first half of the year, and then a decision will be made on whether to apply it from the second half of the year.

While the exhibition game is in progress, a special event game is expected to capture the attention of fans. The special game of the MLB Seoul Series will be held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the 17th and 18th of this month.

Starting with the match between Kiwoom and the LA Dodgers at 12 PM on the 17th, the national team Team Korea and the San Diego Padres will clash at 7 PM. On the 18th, a game will be held between LG and San Diego at 12 p.m., and Team Korea will face the Dodgers at 7 p.m.

Team Korea's players, led by coach Ryu Joong-il, are composed mainly of young blood representing the KBO League. Moon Dong-ju, Noh Si-hwan (Hanwha), Kim Hye-seong (Kiwoom), Won Tae-in (Samsung), Lee Ui-ri (KIA), Moon Bo-kyung (LG), Kang Baek-ho (KT Wiz), and Kwak Bin (Doosan Bears), who were named on the final list, are major players. Face off against a leaguer.

The Dodgers and San Diego will adjust their game sense through practice games with Team Korea, LG, and Kiwoom ahead of the opening two-game series of the 2024 MLB regular season to be held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the 20th and 21st. This is the first time that an MLB regular season game is held in Korea.

Korean and Japanese baseball stars, including San Diego's Kim Ha-seong and Ko Woo-seok, as well as Japanese big leaguers Yu Darvish and Yuki Matsui, and Dodgers' Shohei Otani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, will participate in the Seoul Series. Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow are expected to appear as starting pitchers in the opening two-game series against San Diego.
