Brunson recalled his Dallas days.

Since his debut in the 2018-2019 season, Jaylen Brunson (188 cm, G) has been playing fairly well, crossing the bench and starting from his debut season. However, the team had an ace for sure named Luka Doncic (201 cm, G-F), and Brunson's role was to assist him.

Nevertheless, he still had ample potential. In the 2021-2022 season, he left Doncic alone, helping his team advance to the conference finals. Brunson averaged 21.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.

Brunson, who boosted his physical costs, signed a four-year, $104 million contract with the New York Knicks ahead of the 2022-2023 season. He did not accompany the Dallas Mavericks for long. There was controversy over his overpayment at the time, but his skills silenced all controversies.

He quickly became the ace player of New York by posting an average of 24 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.5 rebounds from the first season, and is leading the battle among the top ranks of New York this season by posting 27.6 points, 6.5 assists, and 3.8 rebounds. Now, he has become the ace player in New York in name and reality.

Brunson is living a happy life in New York. However, he still had some regrets about his time in Dallas. Brunson recently appeared on "All the Smoke Productions" and recalled his past.

Brunson said, "When I was playing for Dallas, I had so much fun playing with Doncic. He was the best player. But I didn't get many chances back then, and I was different from what I am today."

And he added, "Doncic was out injured and I got a chance. I was really okay at the time. As far as I remember, I had about 20 points and six assists. So I played about 25 games in 20 games. Then my skills improved. But when Doncic came back, I couldn't adapt to my new role."

He continued, "But now it's different. My skills have improved a lot. So, I miss the days when I played together. If I could have done more... If Doncic and I played together now, we would have been really powerful."

Doncic, meanwhile, has been a strong MVP this season, averaging 34.2 points, 9.5 assists, and 8.8 rebounds. Brunson is also having his best season as an All-Star. He is now playing aces in his respective teams.
