The Reel Life: Pokemon Go edition

It's time, dear readers. We tried to put it off, but you knew it was coming eventually. This week, we at the Reel Life must present you with a Pokémon Go story.

Since the game was released nearly three weeks ago, news outlets across the globe have been choked with stories of people losing their damn minds over the game. Some are heartwarming accounts of the game helping children with autism or depression to socialize. Some are deeply creepy stories about players finding dead bodies.

But people aren't just going nuts playing the game. A lot of forward-thinking investors also went nuts investing in what they thought was the game's parent company, Nintendo.

At least, that's what it looks like, considering Nintendo's stock price doubled after the game launched — and then immediately fell by 17% after it released a statement pointing out that it doesn't, in fact, make Pokémon Go.

Nintendo has been closely associated with the Pokémon brand because it made the Game Boy consoles that the first Pokémon games were played on back in 1996. That's 20 years ago, if you want to feel old.

The Reel Life remembers playing Pokémon Red on a Game Boy, but does not want to feel old, so instead we're going to distract ourselves with some online slots — at least until we get any leads on Pikachu in our neighborhood.

The Bonus Bomb is exploding at South Africa's SpringBok Casino. All players that deposit Aug. 1–11 will receive an e-mail with a special bonus offer.

In addition to the free bonus announced by e-mail and through the casino message center, there's a 150% deposit bonus available. SpringBok will add up to 3,000 Rands to all deposits until Aug. 11.

"If you've made a deposit, you'll get an e-mail Aug. 11 with a special free bonus," explained SpringBok manager Daniel Van Wyk. "We'll top up your deposit and then give you a nice no-deposit bonus to play with."

South Africa's most popular online casino offers hundreds of online slots and table games from Realtime Gaming (RTG), all played in Rands. In the newest game, Samba Sunset, scatters trigger free spins with added wilds and multipliers. It's an "all ways pay" game, so there are 243 possible winning combinations on each spin.

SpringBok's most popular casino games are available in the mobile casino for smartphones and tablets. Customer service is provided in English or Afrikaans.
