Two months after 'injury return', criticism is being raised over

“It’s one of the worst tackles.”

Mitoma Kaoru (Brighton) collapsed again. In the 25th round of the 2023-24 English Premier League against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in Sheffield, England on the 18th (Korea time), he almost suffered a serious injury to his left knee due to a deep tackle by his opponent in the 11th minute of the first half.

Sheffield's Holgate tackled Mitoma, who was moving around holding the ball. He didn't touch the ball, but he raised his foot high and pushed Mitoma's knee. The referee's first decision was a yellow card, but he was expelled directly after VAR.

In response, British Sky Sports commentator Jamie Redknapp said, "It's no different from assault. It's one of the worst tackles I've ever seen."

"I don't know how Mitoma could have avoided his left leg so quickly, but I'm really happy. Otherwise, his career would have ended," he added.

Mitoma injured her left ankle in a match against Crystal Palace in the English Premier League on December 22 last year and was diagnosed with six to seven weeks of treatment. Just a week ago, she headed to Qatar as the youngest member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup team, but failed to play properly due to rehabilitation.

He was excluded from all three group matches and disappeared in the round of 16. He was on the waiting list for the first time in the quarterfinals against Bahrain on March 31, and made a comeback after suffering injury about a month. Japan lost to Iran in the semifinals, and all players from overseas leagues were forced to return to their teams.

Returning to Brighton, Mitoma started against Tottenham on the 11th. He also started on the same day, and overcame a situation that could have led to a major injury.
