Alexander Volkanovski (35, Australia), the UFC featherweight (65.8 kg), responded pleasantly to concerns over aging ahead of the sixth defense match by dressing up as an old man. In the weight class, he wore a necklace with "highlight" engraved on it, showing his firm commitment to prolonging his reign.

At the UFC 298: Volkanovski vs. Topurian weightlifting competition held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, the U.S. on Thursday, Volkanovski met his limit of 65.5 kilograms and finished preparing for the title race. Challenger Ilya Topuria (27, Georgia/Spain), ranking third in the UFC featherweight division, also passed the competition with the same weight.

Volkanovski (26-3) will defend his sixth featherweight title against Topuria, a rookie who has won 14 consecutive games in the main event of "UFC 298: Volkanovski vs Topuria" at the same venue on the 18th.

Volkanovski is the longest-serving UFC champion. He has 17 wins and no losses in featherweight. Like his nickname "Alexander the Great," he is invincible.

Such Volkanovski is raising the theory of crisis. Suspicion is based on the damage caused by the head kick KO suffered by Islamic Makachev in October last year and the old age of 35.

Volkanovski responded humorously to the controversy. He dressed up as an old man at the UFC 298 press conference on the 16th. He walked slowly wearing glasses with straps, loose-fitting cotton pants and a cardigan. He was an old man without fail.

"I dressed up like this to teach this young friend," Volkanovski said, provoking Topuria. "You're dressed like this, so you already know what's going to happen. You're going to retire," Topuria responded.

As the confrontation intensified, Volkanovski's old man concept was broken. Volkanovskiy said Topuria talks too much before the match, calling it Conor McGregor's wannabe. Tofuria then snatched Volkanovski's title belt. It was a copy of what Conor McGregor did to Jose Aldo, the featherweight champion, as a challenger.

Excited, Volkanovski stepped up and confronted Topuria. As the host stood in the middle and restrained him, Volkanovski warned Topuria, "Enjoy it now. You will never see the champion belt again."

Volkanovski wore a necklace emblazoned with "the heyday" at the relay the following day. He expressed his firm determination to dispel public doubts with his ability. "It's time to climb the octagon," he said. "Tofuria will collapse tomorrow."

Challenger Topuria also bragged, "I'm ready. I'll make history tomorrow."

The match between the great champion and the undefeated challenger is drawing a lot of attention. Famous sports players in Spain, including tennis legend Rafael Nadal and soccer legend Andrés Iniesta, cheered for Topuria to become the first Spanish UFC champion. Sergio Ramos, who played for Real Madrid and Spain's national soccer team, comes to watch the match in person.

Korean zombie Jung Chan-sung (36), who challenged Volkanovski at UFC 273 in April 2022, also arrived in the country, saying, "I think I will regret it if I miss the intuition."

Robert Whitaker, a former UFC middleweight (83.9kg) champion, and Paulo Costa, ranking sixth, both succeeded in the relay with 84.1kg.

The two players are Alex Pereira → Israel Adesanya → Sean Strickland → Driquis du Plessy, who wants to take advantage of the middleweight chaos when champions change every game.

Former UFC flyweight-bantamweight champion Henry Sehudo, who was Jung Chan-sung's training partner, and Merab Devalishvili, ranked third in UFC bantamweight, finished preparing for the battle with 61.2kg.

Ian Gary, who dreams of becoming the "second Conor McGregor," and Jeff Neal, the "stone fist," will also compete with 77.3kg.

The main card of "UFC 298: Volkanovski vs Topuria" will be broadcast live on TVing from 12 p.m. on February 18 (Sunday) and the undercard from 10 a.m.
