Stephen Curry (Golden State), who was excluded from the Best 5 in the All-Star Game, left a message expressing his dignity as a veteran.

The NBA Secretariat announced on the 26th (Korea time) the captains of both teams and the best five to play in the 2023 NBA All-Star Game. LeBron James (LA Lakers) was selected as the captain of the Western Conference, and Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milbury) was selected as the captain of the Eastern Conference.

The best five in the All-Star Game were determined by combining the voting rankings of fans (50%), players (25%), and media officials (25%). The Western Conference's top five includes James, Kevin Durant, Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander City.

Curry, who was picked as a candidate for guard, had a hard time. Curry was third among players and second among fans, but he was fourth in media representation voting, giving up the remaining guard position to Gilzos Alexander. This marks the end of Curry's ninth consecutive Top Five appearance in the All-Star Game.

Curry is still a superstar representing the NBA. He is a star of Golden State who combines skill and popularity, earning more than $50 million a year this season. Although his average has dropped nearly three points from last season, he has shown a steady performance with 26.8 points, 4.6 3-pointers, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.9 assists.

However, Golden State remains in 12th place in the Western Conference, and there is no guarantee of a play-in tournament. On the other hand, Doncic is showing his performance that can be considered as an MVP candidate. Gilzos Alexander also led the Oklahoma City Thunder to the top-ranked Western Conference, overcoming the limitations of the small market and securing a place in the top five. As the results of the vote on representatives of media companies show, it is true that Curry is less competitive this season than these players.

Curry was also not disappointed with the result and praised Doncic and Gilgeous Alexander. The remaining seven spots for each conference will be selected by the coaches of both teams and announced on Feb. 2. "I hope to be in Indiana (where the All-Star game is held), but it's always a challenge to be in the All-Star game no matter where you are," Curry said. "I don't take it for granted because I know how difficult it is to be recognized as an All-Star."
