Kevin Durant was furious. He asked why he wasn't mentioned as the GOAT.
Arizona Republix said on the 22nd (Korea Standard Time) that Durant expressed a question, "What have I not been able to do?"
As he said, Durant has a legendary NBA career. He was named the MVP and was a three-time Olympic gold medalist, four-time top scorer, and two-time NBA champion.
CBS Sports said, "There's no doubt that he'll be voted into the Hall of Fame in the first round and remembered as one of the greatest players of his generation," adding, "I think Durant, like most great players, has a much bigger legacy."
According to the Arizona Republic, Durant said he was not mentioned in the GOAT conversation because he went to the Golden State Warriors.
At the same time, he raised his voice, "Why shouldn't I be there? Didn't I do something?"
"Durant's decision to join Golden State in 2016 was one of the most controversial choices in FA history," CBS Sports said. "Golden State already won in 2015. In 2016, he achieved the NBA record of 73 wins in the regular season. When Durant signed with Golden State, many people thought his two wins were natural." What would be the point of going to a team that already has a winning history and winning.
CBS Sports cited Michael Jordan as an example, saying, "He has done almost everything the best candidate of all time has to do, but he has not done that as often as any other candidate."
Durant has two titles and Jordan has six. Durant has four top scoring titles and Jordan 10 top scoring titles. Durant has one MVP and Jordan five.
Therefore, it is difficult to argue that Durant has performed more than Jordan in his career if you line up your resume side by side.
"Durant's career is still ongoing, but it's hard to imagine him closing that gap," he continued. "Of course, none of this will take away the tremendous career that Durant has. By almost all accounts, he is one of the best players in basketball history. He can do things that players like Jordan and LeBron James can't do."
"There has never been a player in the NBA with a combination of his size, shooting and ball handling," he said, adding, "These qualities may make Durant a suitable choice to make the final attack in a big game."
