Worst chemistry with SON... ends up leaving Tottenham for 'home'

Ivan Perisic could return to the Croatian league, reports say.

Perisic left Inter Milan to join Tottenham ahead of the 2022-23 season. Antonio Conte, who led Tottenham at the time, strengthened his side by recruiting Perisic, a veteran of Wolfsburg, Inter Milan, and Bayern Munich and a native of Inter Milan.

Perisic, however, has repeatedly shown disappointment. He had no unique sharp penetrations and crosses on the side, and used to eat away at the attacking tempo with excessive play. Especially in his mid-30s, he had a lot of problems in terms of mobility.

He also had poor teamwork with Son Heung-min, who played as a left wing forward. Perisic was criticized for overlapping with Son throughout the season. As Son showed better performance in the game against Ryan Sessegnon than Perisic, the voice of criticism against Perisic grew louder.

This season, there have been a series of injuries under coach Nze Postecoglou. Perisic was put on the operating table after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in September. Meanwhile, Destiny Udogi was perfectly positioned at left flank, with Son Heung-min and Brennan Johnson occupying the offensive side. Perisic's position has been greatly reduced.

Ultimately, Perisic is scheduled to leave Tottenham. Director Postekoglou hinted at his separation from Perisic in a recent interview. “Perisic will not play for Tottenham again,” said coach Postekoglou.

The team that wants Perisic is Hajduk Split, his home team in Croatia. Perisic made his first football appearance for Hajduk Split.

European soccer transfer market expert Fabricio Romano said on the 13th (Korean time), “Hajduk Split has decided that Perisic is their top target in the winter transfer market and will do their best to make the signing happen. “Perisic’s recovery is progressing smoothly,” he said, reporting on the transfer situation.
