The Japanese national soccer team defeated Jordan, South Korea's second group match opponent, in the final mock test in preparation for the Asian Cup.

Japan, led by head coach Moriyasu Hajime, beat Jordan 6-1 in a closed-door warm-up match held at Alersal Stadium in Doha, Qatar on the 9th. Japan, the most likely favorite to win the tournament, has won the last 10 consecutive games following a 5-0 victory against Thailand on the 1st.

In a friendly match held in his country in June last year, he beat El Salvador 6-0 and Peru 4-1. He then blanked Germany 4-1 in the European stage in September and beat Turkiye 4-2 to surprise the world of soccer. He defeated Canada 4-1 win and Tunisia 2-0 win in October, and also crushed Myanmar and Syria 5-0 in November in the second Asian qualifying round for the 2026 North-China World Cup. He scored 45 goals in 10 consecutive matches until the match against Jordan, showing off his formidable scoring ability by scoring 4.5 goals per match.

Japan scored four goals in the first half alone. Takuma Asano's penalty kick and Daizen Maeda's additional goal widened the gap to six goals in the second half. Jordan made a comeback through counterattack at 43 minutes in the second half to avoid losing the game. Moriyasu took his time and managed the game with ease, including complete replacement of members in the first and second half of the game.

Japan is the biggest stumbling block to the Korean national soccer team that is aiming to win the title for the first time in 64 years. Japan is ahead of Korea in terms of objective performance and FIFA ranking. Japan is also the highest in Asia at 17th in FIFA ranking. Iran is ranked 21st and Korea is 23rd.

Japan, which belongs to Group D of the upcoming Asian Cup, will have its first match against Vietnam on June 14. It will face off against Iraq on June 19 and Indonesia on June 24. Korea will face Bahrain 15, Jordan 20, and Malaysia 25, respectively, in Group E. If the two teams are not eliminated in the middle, they will play the "Korea-Japan final" on February 10.
