$3,000 to local cancer center

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Black Oak Casino Resort presented $3,300 to the new Diana J. White Cancer Institute in Sonora, California. The donation was given as part of a check presentation to the organization on Tuesday, 24 October 2017.

"Cancer is a disease that effects many people, so it is gratifying for us to be able to support an organization doing so much to help those impacted within our community," said Ron Patel, CEO of Black Oak Casino Resort. "The Diana J. White Cancer Institute is essential in helping people get lifesaving treatment, close to home."

The monies raised come as part of Black Oak Casino Resort's Play for the Cure free slot tournament. Held on Saturday, 13 October through Sunday, 14 October, the 24-hour tournament had participants vying for a share of $10,000. One dollar was given for each of the players entered into the tournament to make up the donation.

As part of the tournament, players had five minutes to play and accumulate the highest score. The top 16 players were then awarded a portion of the cash prize. Further, a drawing was held every hour for someone to win $112 in Free Play, a number that represents the estimated number of men and women who die of breast cancer each day.
