Anyang's general manager filled the vacancy left by Omari Spellman.

The new foreign player under Chung is Robert Carter Jr. As a 206 cm big man, he graduated from Georgia Tech, a prestigious NCAA college of engineering, and the University of Maryland. Although he was not selected in the NBA rookie draft, he built his career in Europe.

Starting with Italy, he played in Lithuania, Turkiye, and more recently in Israel. East Asian basketball is also familiar. He experienced the B. League from 2019-20 to 2021-22.

Carter Jr. has displayed robust board control and even made 3-pointers that boasts of a success rate of over 30 percent. Of course, the KBL is a difficult league for foreign players to adapt to, and hence the team has to open the lid. Despite this, Chung chose Carter Jr. as a substitute for Spellman.

He also has no physical condition. Since he played in actual matches in the Israeli league until recently, he is physically fit. Carter Jr., who was watching from the field, was clearly showing off his good physical condition that would not be strange even when he was deployed to the game.

Carter Jr. played in three games in the 2023-24 season, averaging 19.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals. The fielding success rate was not outstanding at 46.3%, but the 3-point shooting success rate was observed at 34.8%.

Carter Jr., who arrived in Korea on Wednesday afternoon, reportedly sent a message to a team official, saying, "I want to watch the game against Samsung in Seoul on site." He visited the site immediately after getting jet lag. His passion exceeds expectations.

Of course, Carter Jr. has not become a 100% registered player. Starting with the medical test on the 18th, he has to go through the official recruitment process. Visa issuance is a later problem.

"We haven't signed a 100% contract yet. There are a lot of procedures that need to be taken from medical tests. There are some parts to be checked," said Kim Sang-sik, head coach of the government's general affairs office.
