Foreign composition completed

Lotte said on the 17th, "We hired outfielder Victor Reyes (29 years old) and re-signed Charlie Barnes (28 years old)."

Reyes signed a contract for a total of $950,000 including 700,000 guarantees and 250,000 incentives.

He is a right-handed two-hitter with a height of 1m96 and a weight of 87kg. He can cover all outfield positions. He played in 394 games during five seasons in the Major League, posting a batting average of 0.264 in total. In particular, his contact ability and strong batting production stood out based on his simple swing.

In the 2023 season, he also has slugging capability, including 20 home runs in Triple-A under the Chicago White Sox. In addition, he has excellent defensive skills, including strong shoulders and wide defensive range, and can play in all outfield positions.

Reyes said, "I'm excited to join Lotte, a great team. I'm looking forward to the 2024 season and I'll do my best to help the team."

Park Joon-hyuk, the general manager, said, "We hope that Reyes will quickly adapt to the KBO league and play a central role in the team's batting lineup through his athletic ability and attitude to focus on baseball."

In addition, Lotte will accompany Barnes for three consecutive years. The team renewed the contract at 1.35 million U.S. dollars, including 1.2 million guaranteed amount and 150,000 incentives.

Barnes has won more than 10 games in both seasons in the KBO League, playing 356 2/3 innings, the second-most in the league. In particular, in the second half of the 2023 season, he ranked first in the league with a 2.05 ERA, showing stable game management.

Barnes, who accompanies Lotte for three consecutive years, said, "I'm very happy to have the opportunity to be with the Lotte Giants once again," adding, "I want to return to Busan as soon as possible and throw it for the team in front of the fans who send me the best support."

The club highly appreciated Barnes' steady ability to play innings and judged that he was a proven left-hander 1 starter who had already adapted in the KBO League.

The Lotte Giants re-signed two proven starting pitchers and completed the formation of foreign players by recruiting hitters to serve as the center of the team's batting lineup.

Meanwhile, the club recruited left-hander Lim Joon-seop.

Lim Joon-seop, who was designated as the Kia Tigers in 2012, joined the Lotte Giants after playing for the Hanwha Eagles and SSG Landers. He played in 200 games during nine seasons in the KBO League, and was responsible for 368 1/3 innings. Lotte judged that Lim has competitive edge as a left-handed pitcher, including experience in mound management and stable ball control.
