Kim Eun-seok, Secretary General of the Korea Canoe Federation, was elected as the next Secretary General of the Asia Canoe Federation.

The Korea Canoe Federation announced on the 29th, “At the 21st Asian Canoe Federation regular general meeting held at the Olympic Parktel in Songpa-gu, Seoul on the 28th and 29th, Secretary General Kim was selected as the next Secretary General, defeating India’s candidate Prashant Singh Raghuavanshi.”

Secretary-General Kim is the first Korean to hold the position of Secretary-General of the Asian Canoe Federation. Due to Secretary General Kim's election, the headquarters of the Asian Canoe Federation will be moved to Korea.

Secretary General Kim Eun-seok said, “I was defeated by 3 votes when I ran for office in 2015, but I think the relationship I formed with the delegates at the time helped my image as a ‘prepared secretary-general.’ He said, “With the secretariat headquarters coming to Korea, we are also looking forward to job creation.”

Cho Hyun-sik, president of the Korea Canoe Federation, predicted, “It will be an opportunity to promote our country’s status in the canoe sport to countries around the world, including Asia, and for our country’s canoe to develop further.” The Asian Canoe Federation, launched in 1983, currently has 38 member countries.
