FA approved players

Oh Seung-hwan and Kang Han-wool of Samsung are on the list of FA qualifying players

Samsung Lions closer Oh Seung-hwan and infielder Kang Han-wool have qualified as free agents.

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced on the 15th the list of qualified players for the 2024 professional baseball FA. Usually, qualified players are disclosed five days after the end of the Korean Series, but this year, they were announced two days later. The move reflects the fact that the season ended late.

A total of 34 FA qualification players were announced on the same day. If you look at the grades divided by considering annual salary and age, there are 8 people in A grade, 14 people in B grade, and 12 people in C grade. Among them, 12 players were eligible for FA for the first time, eight were eligible again, and 14 players have already qualified for FA but have maintained their qualifications without applying for FA approval.

By club, SSG Landers has the largest number of six players. Samsung qualified for the FA with five players along with the LG Twins. The new FA players are Oh Seung-hwan and Kang Han-wool (C grade). Koo Ja-wook (Grade A), Kim Dae-woo, and Kim Heon-gon (Grade C) were announced to remain eligible for the FA.

Koo Ja-wook, the core of Samsung's offense, has already signed a non-FA multi-year contract, so he will not appear in the FA market this time. Koo Ja-wook signed a five-year contract with Samsung for a maximum total of 12 billion won in 2022. Samsung, which has a weak bullpen, is expected to pay attention to catching Oh Seung-hwan.

2024 FA qualifying players must apply to the KBO for approval of the exercise of FA rights by the 17th. KBO plans to announce players who exercised their FA rights as FA approved players on the 18th, the day after the application deadline. FA approved players can negotiate with all clubs (including overseas clubs) for player contracts from the 19th, the day after the announcement
