Manager Yeom Kyung-yup watching the game
Game 4 of the 2023 KBO Baseball Korea Series between the LG Twins and the KT Wiz at Katie Wiz Park in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, on April 11. LG manager Yeom Kyung-yup watches the game.
"Not only me, but our players, front office, and fans are working hard to make the game go well. Luck is also on our side, and I think that energy is strong. We don't know how baseball will turn out until the end, so we will prepare well and do our best for Game 5."
LG Twins manager Yoon Kyung-yeop, whose team is close to winning its first Korean Series title in 29 years, vowed to end the series in Game 5 on Nov. 13 at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul.
LG rode its hot bats to a 15-4 victory over the KT Wiz in Game 4 of the Korean Series at Katie Wiz Park in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, on Nov. 11 to take the series 3-1 and remain one game away from the title.
"Starting pitcher Kim Yoon-sik pitched much better than I expected," Yoon said, "and he did his job by mixing his fastball and changeup properly, which helped us win the game."
Daily MVP Kim Yun-sik
LG's Yun-sik Kim celebrates being named the Daily MVP after LG's 15-4 victory over KT Wiz in Game 4 of the 2023 KBO Korean Series at Katie Wiz Park in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, on Nov. 11. Kim Yun-sik started the game and pitched 5⅔ innings of one-run ball to earn the win.
Kim Yun-sik held the KT bats to one run over 5⅔ innings to earn his first win in the Korean Series for both teams and was named the game's Most Valuable Player.
"We were thinking about the starting pitcher for Game 4, but we made a good choice and it worked out," said Yoon-sik. "It was a game where we needed him to go long, and if the bullpen was overworked until today, we had no choice but to go long in the rest of the game," said Yoon-sik, who also praised Kim for giving his middle relievers a break.
LG will start Casey Kelly in Game 5. Choi Won-tae, who was set to start Game 6, struggled with his pitches in Game 4 and is no longer on the mound.
"The baseball we wanted to play was home run baseball, and in a small ballpark, home run baseball like this," Yeom said of the three home runs that secured the victory. "We didn't have any in the regular season, but we became a home run team in the Korean Series. We hit a lot of home runs, which gave the team confidence and strength," he said.
