Entered early in the morning on the day of the Suwon derby"

Suwon Samsung Acting Manager Yeom Ki-hoon adjusts the leader training schedule for the important derby game.

Suwon Samsung will play the 'Suwon Derby' in the 36th round of Hana One Q K League 1 2023 against Suwon FC at Suwon Sports Complex on the 12th at 2 p.m.

The Suwon derby is a very important game for both teams. Suwon Samsung is still in last place (6 wins, 8 draws, 21 losses, 26 points), and Suwon FC is in 10th place (8 wins, 8 draws, 19 losses, 32 points). Both teams need to escape the threat of relegation, but Suwon Samsung is more desperate. Those at the bottom cannot avoid direct relegation.

Suwon Samsung's acting coach Ki-Hoon Yeom, a star player, changed his position from playing coach mid-season and is now leading the team as a firefighter. He is currently taking Asian Football Confederation (AFC) P-level licensing training. Although he is a playing coach, he can perform the duties of a manager, so he took over after manager Kim Byeong-soo was dismissed.

However, Acting Director Yeom heads to Thailand to receive P-level training again. Acting manager Yeom, who visited Yokohama F. Marinos of Japan's J-League last August and participated in the second stage lecture, will participate in the third stage lecture to be held from November 4th to 13th.

If he participates in all of the lectures that will be held until the 13th, Deputy Manager Yeom will have to miss the Suwon FC game. However, Deputy Director Yeom returns to Korea early for Suwon.

In a phone call with Xports News on the 2nd, a Suwon official said, "Acting Director Yeom will arrive in Korea early in the morning on the day of the game. There is no problem at all in directing the game. We have adjusted the schedule to arrive a day earlier (than the end date of the lecture)." AFC “There is no problem as it has also been approved,” he said.

Suwon has been fighting to escape the bottom all season. Suwon, who had a dramatic success in remaining in the relegation playoffs against FC Anyang in the 2022 season, was desperately looking forward to a change under coach Lee Byung-geun's regime, but when they opened the lid, they ended up in a more despairing atmosphere.

Suwon fell into a swamp of 10 games without a win, and in the meantime, Coach Lee was fired. Suwon, which achieved its first win of the season in the 11th round away to Incheon United under Choi Sung-yong's system, sought a rebound by appointing coach Kim Byeong-soo as a firefighter in May. Coach Kim's Suwon, which quickly reported its first win since taking office with an away victory over Gangwon in the 13th round, believed in the power of positivity.

He seemed to have the power of positivity. Kim Byeong-su-ho lowered Gangwon to last place by going undefeated in 4 games (2 wins, 2 draws) last July and succeeded in getting out of last place. They even recorded their first home win in the middle of the season, winning 3-1 in a home game against leader Ulsan Hyundai in the 23rd round.

However, after August, losses instead of wins increased again. Suwon, who suffered four consecutive losses from the 28th round against Gwangju to the 31st round against Daejeon, suddenly made an extraordinary decision and fired coach Kim. And by appointing Acting Manager Yeom, they are continuing the competition to remain in the remaining season.

Yeom reported his first win by winning 1-0 in the home game against 2nd place Pohang, the last game of the regular round, but is having difficulty accumulating points with 1 draw and 1 loss in the following two final round games. In the 35th round match against Daejeon, they were ahead 2-0, but lost 2 points in a row by conceding 2 goals in a row at the end of the second half.
