Semi-PO batting average in the 10% range is sluggish...a timely hit to the PO's solo shot

Oh Young-soo (23), whose potential exploded, is raising the possibility of the NC Dinos going to the Korean Series.

Oh Young-soo started as the first baseman and seventh batter in Game 1 of the "2023 KBO Semi-Playoff" (best-of-five) against KT Wiz at KT Wiz Park in Suwon on the 30th, and recorded three hits, two RBIs and one run in five at-bats, including a solo home run.

Oh Young-soo lightened NC starter Eric Peddy's shoulder in the top of the first inning with a 1-0 lead and hit a solo shot that shook KT starter William Cuevas' composure. It was an arch over the left-center fence by pushing a 146km high fastball in the 6th pitch in the full count match.

He contributed to the victory by hitting a timely hit in the top of the ninth inning.

NC, which came up through the wild card game and semi-playoffs, won the first round of the playoffs 9-5 to take a step closer to advancing to the Korean Series.

NC manager Kang In-kwon said he was agonizing over the position of first baseman just before the playoffs. However, he put Oh Young-soo in the starting lineup because he thought it would be better to be more active in attack.

Oh Young-soo was strong with eight hits in 21 at-bats against KT this year. However, he performed poorly in his first postseason. He had a batting average of 0.143 (1 hit in 7 at-bats) in three semi-playoff games.

On the other hand, Kang, who recognized Oh Young-soo's true intention, gave him another chance, and he lived up to the expectations of the head coach.


Coach Kang said after the game the previous day, "I put Oh Young-soo in the starting lineup against KT because I thought he had a good batting sense," adding, "He showed as good as he expected." Oh Young-soo is likely to be hired in the "Autumn Baseball" in the future.

Son Ah-seop No. 1, Park Min-woo No. 2, and Park Gun-woo No. 3, who have five consecutive RBIs, Jason Martin, Seo Ho-chul, Oh Young-soo, and Kim Hyung-jun, who have shown excellent batting performance in the postseason, are showing off their fearsome scoring ability by concentrating in the bottom batting order.

The momentum of NC's batters is sky high. He scored a whopping 41 points in five postseason games. In the second round of the playoffs, the team plans to focus its firepower once again.
