A former firefighter at the Para Asian Games?

"Jiegun" means "great" or "strong" in the local dialect of Hangzhou, China. We wish the Korean team the best of luck at the Para Asian Games.

Yoon Jung-heon (left) wins the first stage of the 'Tour de Korea (TDK) 2019 Special' at Inje-gun Stadium in Gangwon Province.

It was unclear who would take first place until the end. Five riders were running in a bunch from the second half of the race, so only a close reading of the photos could reveal the order of finish. With about 10 meters to go, one of them broke away. The others tried to catch him, but their bodies didn't cooperate. He was the only one who exploded at the end. The 'Prince of Masters Cycling' was back. Yoon Jung-heon (28-Team Sutis-Misfeldt) was the first to cross the finish line on the first day of the Tour de Korea (TDK) 2019 Special at Inje-gun Stadium in Gangwon Province on September 27 with a time of 56 minutes and 29 seconds.

Yoon, who was featured in this Donga Ilbo article on September 28, 2019, is competing at the Para Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, with the Jeonbuk Para Cycling Federation. But he didn't acquire his disability in four years. He's paired with a blind athlete, Kim Jung-bin (31-Hive Systems), to compete in the tandem cycling category. Tandem cycling is a two-seater bike with a sighted "pilot" in front and a blind athlete behind.

The team of Kim Jung-bin and Yoon Jung-heon won gold in the 4000-meter individual pursuit on the opening day of the Games. It was the first gold medal for the Korean team at the Games. On the 26th, they won a second gold in the 18.5-kilometer road race. On the final day of the Games, he won the 69-kilometer individual pursuit in 1 hour, 35 minutes and 27 seconds to become the first Korean cyclist to win a Para Asian Games triple.

Yoon said, "I was overwhelmed during the first ceremony, but hearing the national anthem for the third time reminded me of all the hard work I put in during training. I'm grateful to Jung Bin for sweating and suffering with me. I am truly grateful for choosing me as a pilot and creating an unforgettable experience for me."
