The Korean women's volleyball team struggled to win the first inter-Korean match in six years.
The South Korean national team, led by César González, turned the tables against North Korea with a set score of 3-1 (19-25 25-21 25-9 25-20) in the second Group E match of the quarterfinals of the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games at Changchen Gymnasium in Hangzhou Education University, China, today (5th). South Korea, ranked third in Group E, will play the 5th to 8th place match against the loser of Taiwan-Kazakhstan on the 6th. The two Koreas, which failed to advance to the semifinals after losing to China and Vietnam the previous day, faced off for the first time in six years since the Asian Championship in September 2017 while steaming. South Korea lost the first set to North Korea, but after balancing it hard in the second set, it unilaterally won the third set and took a step closer to victory, followed by Kang So-hwi (GS Caltex)'s consecutive points at the end of the fourth set. Kang So-hwi poured in 24 points to lead the victory, followed by Pyo Seung-joo (12, IBK Industrial Bank of Korea) and Lee Sun-woo (11 points, director Jeong). Meanwhile, Kim Hyun-joo led the attack in North Korea with 22 points. |
