"Captain" Son Heung-min (31, Tottenham) was named as the player of September.
The English Premier League (EPL) secretariat announced on the 5th that seven players, including Son Heung-min, were nominated for the Player of the Month Award. The winner will be decided by a vote of fans and a panel of experts. In addition to Son Heung-min, Julian Alvarez (Manchester City), Jared Bowen (West Ham), Pedro Netu (Wolverhampton), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Kieran Trippier (Newcastle United) and Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) are the nominated players. Son scored six goals in four games in September alone. Son Heung-min, who scored a hat-trick in the fourth round against Burnley, which won a big 5-2 victory, scored multiple goals in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal. He also scored the first goal in the seventh round against Liverpool on the 1st. In particular, Son Heung-min, who scored multiple goals for the first time in 30 years in away matches at the Arsenal and North London derby, showed his true value by scoring his 200th European goal against Liverpool. Son Heung-min is second in scoring in the league after Erling Holan (Manchester City), who has scored eight goals. If Son Heung-min receives the Player of the Month this time, he will be the fourth winner of his career. Son Heung-min was named the Player of the Month in September 2016, April 2017, and October 2020, respectively. Son Heung-min is aiming for the award again after three years. For now, there is no one to follow Son Heung-min in scoring. Watkins scored four goals and one assist, Alvarez and Salah scored two goals and two assists, and Bowen scored three goals. Netu had one goal and three assists, and Trippier had four assists. |
