Manchester United's 'weakest home' falls to the bottom of the sh

Manchester United lost all two games in the first half and fell to last place in the UEFA Champions League (UCL. Once a strong team at home, Old Trafford are now top of the opposition's points table.

Galatasaray beat Manchester United 3-2 in the second Group A match of the 2023-2024 UCL at Old Trafford in Manchester, England, on the 4th (Korea Standard Time). Galatasaray finished second in the group after Bayern Munich with one win and one draw, while Manchester United fell to the bottom with two losses. The ranking is worse than Copenhagen, which had one draw and one loss.

The away loss to Galatasaray, which has a spectacular team, is understandable, but the problem is that it was a defeat at Old Trafford, Manchester United's proud "dream stadium." Manchester United's poor home performance has continued recently. Since losing to Sevilla in March 2018, he has lost 14 games at home, five wins, two draws and seven losses. It's such a huge slump that half of the losses are losses. It collapsed whenever they faced strong teams such as Sevilla, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid at home.

Originally, Manchester United was a strong team at home. 67 wins, 22 draws and 7 losses in the previous 96 games. In the past, it took almost 100 games to lose seven games at home, but recently, only 14 games have been completed.

The loss, which is a big problem this season, has emerged once again. He gave up 18 goals in 10 official games this season, 57 years after giving up 20 goals in the 1966-1967 season. In addition, he was disgraced as the second-ranked EPL club in this category after Sheffield United (19 goals), which has conceded the most goals in official matches so far.

Manchester United have become an injury ward and even the trusted players are shaking. Midfielder Sofiane Amrabat had to take charge of the side defense again on this day due to a defensive line injury, but he failed to target the offside line, giving up the winning goal. Ambiguously recruited goalkeeper Andre Onana had major problems with both defense and build-up. Veteran defensive midfielder Casemiro, who has had ups and downs this season, was sent off for accumulating warnings.

Promising striker Rasmus Hoilun's multiple goals were the only consolation. Hoilun has been responsible for three of Manchester United's five goals to date. Following his UCL debut, he scored consecutive goals in his second match, aged 20 years and 241 days. It is the youngest record since Erling Holland (then Red Bull Salzburg), who scored consecutive goals in 2019 at 19 years and 73 days. It is a performance worthy of the title ‘the second Holland’.
