Archery Recurve-Compound Ranking Round Start

Swimming, fencing, and the next medal field is archery.

With the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games in full swing, the South Korean team lost its second place to Japan for the first time.

South Korea is in third place with a total of 109 medals, 27 gold, 29 silver, and 53 bronze medals, a week after the opening. At the beginning of the tournament, he ran in second place thanks to his unexpected swimming performance and fencing's performance that reaffirmed Asia's strongest, but his ranking was first reversed as Japan's main event began.

China and Japan, which are located at the top of the Asian Games rankings, have clearly accumulated medals. China swept 28 of the 41 gold medals allocated to swimming. Mechanical gymnastics has already won eight events.

Japan struggled in swimming, which has traditionally been strong, but led the early trend by taking five gold medals as a judoka. In recent years, she has won 10 gold medals in the cycling track alone, intensifying her competition with Korea.

South Korea has brought six gold medals in swimming and fencing, and five in taekwondo. Although they had a high proportion, none of them were as biased as China and Japan. Now, the time has come for South Korea to secure a number of medals.

Archery, which boasts the world's strongest, will start on the 1st. South Korea's archery is the best at the Asian Games as well as the Olympics. Since becoming an official event at the 1978 Bangkok Games, he has won 42 gold medals.

A total of 10 gold medals are at stake in archery at this tournament. It will be divided into men's and women's individuals, groups, and mixed groups in two events, Recurve and Compound. Korea aims to sweep all 10 gold medals. It is not expected to be easy to win all events due to the recent rise in competitiveness of Asian countries, but it has the power to win in general.

In the men's recurve individual event, which opens on the first day of archery, Kim Woo-jin (Cheongju City Hall), Kim Je-deok (Yecheon County Office), and Oh Jin-hyuk (Hyundai Steel), who recently hit hard, will join and seek to advance to the medal finals. Only up to two players per country can participate in the individual finals depending on their preliminary performance.

It will be followed by a compound individual exhibition. Compound has been adopted as an official event since the 2014 Incheon Games. He won two consecutive gold medals at the Incheon and Jakarta-Palembang competitions. In the women's individual event, So Chae-won and Song Yoon-soo (Hyundai Mobis), who won the gold medal in the team event of the last tournament, as well as Oh Yoo-hyun (Jeonbuk Provincial Office) and Jo Su-ah (Hyundai Mobis), who have performed well this season, will compete.

In the afternoon, female recurve players such as Kang Chae-young (Hyundai Mobis), Choi Mi-sun (Gwangju Bank), and Il Si-hyun (Korea National Sports University) will start the preliminary round, led by Ansan (Gwangju Women's University), the first three-time Olympic champion. Finally, Kim Jong-ho, Choi Yong-hee (Hyundai Steel), Yang Jae-won (National Sports Unit), and Joo Jae-hoon (Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power) will also start their medal challenge in Saro.

The archery team, which arrived in Hangzhou on the 27th, had a local adaptation and official practice from the 28th, and took a thorough training session.
