The Cesar has a chance, but no excuse to lose

It's a chance.

The Korean women's volleyball team, led by Cesar Hernandez Gonzalez, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on the 1st
It will play Vietnam in the first Group C qualifying round of the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games at the Changchen Campus Gymnasium of Hangzhou Education University in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China.

South Korea has brought medals to the Asian Games all but once. The only competition that failed to bring a medal was the 2006 Doha Games. At that time, he was ranked fifth.

A total of 13 teams will participate in this competition. After the round robin of the four groups, the first and second places in each group will advance to the quarterfinals. In addition, the first and second places in Group A-C will be grouped into Group E, and the first and second places in Group B-D will be grouped into Group F. Another league will be played to determine which team will advance to the semifinals. Korea was in Group C with Vietnam and Nepal. If they reach the quarterfinals, they will play two of the three teams from China, North Korea, and India.

The Cesar has not been strong in recent international competitions. He played in three international competitions before this year's Asian Games, including all losses in the 2023 Volleyball Nations League (VNL), elimination in the semifinals at the Asian Women's Volleyball Federation (AVC) Asian Volleyball Championship, and all losses in the 2024 Paris Olympics qualifying round. His performance at this year's international competition is 4 wins and 22 losses, with a 15 percent winning rate.

In particular, he lost to Vietnam, his first opponent in the tournament. They suffered a shocking reverse sweep of 2-3 in the preliminary round of the Asian Championship. The whole plan was twisted by losing.

The same goes for this tournament. If they lose to Vietnam, even if they go to the quarterfinals, they will have to play with one loss, which will inevitably be burdensome. Both China and North Korea, which are likely to come up from Group A, are tough opponents.

Captain Park Jung-ah (Pepper Savings Bank) said, "Let's learn from the first game and work hard." Let's get it together. Let's concentrate,' he says a lot of people are saying. However, I think we should be good at volleyball first without worrying about men's volleyball."

Director Jeong Ho-young said, "I don't care. Men's volleyball is men's volleyball. Both men and women are on a hard road, but we have to walk our way. We don't care because we just have to work," he said.

Vietnam has already played the first match against Nepal. The game was played at 2:30 p.m. on September 30. Even if the game is finished in 56 minutes and the physical strength of the main players is saved through a wide rotation, they have to play against Korea without taking a break for 24 hours.

Vietnam can't help it due to the already set schedule for the tournament, but Korea is an opportunity. But if you lose, there is no excuse.

Will Korea be able to get off to a good start by winning the match against Vietnam.
