Yanis Antetokounmpo (28, Greece), one of the best players on the active list, is honing his new weapon ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Antetokounmpo posted his impressions of finishing training with NBA legend Hakim Olajuwon on his personal SNS X (formerly Twitter) on the morning of the 26th (Korea Standard Time). "I enjoyed being a student and learned greatness and respect," he said. I thank Hakeem (Olajuwon)," he said, revealing his respect for Olajuwon and also releasing a photo with him. Antetokounmpo said on the 13th that he would visit Olajuwon for training as one of his offseason plans. Later, the two were seen working out together in Houston. Antetokounmpo, who said he respected Olajuwon's ability in the past, then announced that his training with him went well. Olajuwon has a career to teach Antetokounmpo. A 12-time All-Star, he won two NBA championships, one regular season MVP and two final MVPs, and is the first player to sweep the regular league, final MVP and defender of the year in a season. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in recognition of these achievements. In particular, Olajuwon was a center with pivot and ball handling skills called "Dream Shake." Since his retirement, he has been holding a "Hakeem School" to pass on his know-how to his juniors. In the past, star players such as Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Dwight Howard visited Olajuwon to sharpen their post-up skills. Antetokounmpo is also on a similar path. He has been named an All-Star seven times and won the regular season back-to-back MVP, 2020 Defensive Player of the Year, 2021 championship and final MVP. He is the third player to win both regular league MVP and defender of the year in a season, following Olajuwon and Michael Jordan. Antetokounmpo, who has already had a brilliant career, visiting Olajuwon to learn in person shows how much he wants to develop himself. Olajuwon's meeting with Antetokounmpo will bode well for Milwaukee fans. Antetokounmpo mentioned his desire to win this offseason with Milwaukee and an uncertain future. Fans felt that Antetokounmpo did not sign an extension contract immediately, but his passion for basketball remained the same. |
