'Shocked loss to India' Korean men's volleyball beats Cambodia to confirm its round of 12 against Pakistan
Korean men's men's volleyball, which suffered a shock defeat to India, barely advanced to the round of 12 by beating Cambodia.
The Korean national team's world ranking 27th beat Cambodia 3-025-23 25-13 25-15 in the second Group C qualifying match held at Linping Sports Center in Hangzhou, China on the 21st.
As a result, South Korea, which lost 2-3 to 73rd place in the Indian world in the first match the previous day, recorded one win and one loss in the group stage, advancing to the round of 12 as second place in the group. South Korea will face 51st place in the world ranking of Pakistan, which is ranked first in Group D, in the round of 12 to be held on the 22nd.
At the Asian Championships held last month, South Korea beat Pakistan with a set score of 3-126-28 25-20 32-30.
On this day, Korea also struggled against Cambodia, which was not even counted in the world rankings. He was dragged until the middle of the set as he poured out mistakes early in the first set and his attacks were blocked one after another by the opponent's blocking.
Starting with Lim Dong-hyuk's rear attack at 18-18, which regained concentration in the middle of the game, he seemed to easily win the set by scoring four consecutive points. However, at 22-18, the sub-receiving shook sharply, allowing four consecutive runs and a 22-22 tie. Fortunately, Kim Min-jae's quick attack and Na Kyung-bok's push attack went in at 23-23, and they struggled to win the first set 25-23.
In the second and third sets, South Korea unilaterally pushed Cambodia. Lim Dong-hyuk and Jung Ji-seok's two-wing attacks revived and blocking was supported, bringing the second set to 25-13. He then gave up only 15 points in the third set to seal the victory.
Jung Ji-seok, who did not play against India the previous day due to back pain, was responsible for the most points scored by both teams. Kim Min-jae 10 points, Lim Dong-hyuk 9 points, and Kim Kyu-min 8 points also participated in the attack evenly.
