Vladimir Putin Forcing Bookmakers To Sponsor Sports Events involving Russians

The Russian government has been asked by Russian President Vladimir Putin to force bookmakers to become sponsors of sporting events when Russian sportsmen participate, and the new law must be introduced by the government .

A document released by the Kremlin website states that a federal bill that mandates sponsorship would create obligations for gambling organizers in gambling companies and betting firms' offices to use some of their sports betting income to fund Russian athletes and teams. The Russian Federation will decide how to sponsor it.

The Presidential Committee on Sports Development opened to discuss the issue at hand. Vitaly Mutko is Russia's sports minister, who said publishers and betting shops are basically paying nothing for the budget, and that they should pay those who helped them make money.
