Kim's younger brother, Kim Myung-kyu (first year of Jangchung High School, shortstop), is 187 centimeters tall and weighs 82 kilograms, boasting as much physical and skill as his older brother.

Professor Park Hyun-soon, Kim's mother, won six games on the KLPGA Tour. As a legend selected by KLPGA, he currently served as a golf game guidance professor at Korea Golf University to foster juniors, producing KLPGA tour professionals Ahn Song-yi and Hwang Jung-mi as advisors. From 2013 to 2016, he also coached the Korean golf national team and coached current KLPGA stars Choi Hye-jin, Park Hyun-kyung, and Park Kyul.
