Ohtani's 22 long hits, Yankees' team batting average of 0.196,··

The U.S. Major League Baseball is hot again with Shohei Otani (29, Los Angeles Angels). Otani, the only "two-hitter" player in the Major League, is currently playing an "alien-class performance" with an OPS 1.039 with a season batting average of 0.304 and 28 home runs and 11 steals as of the 28th.

Yahoo Sports in the U.S. highlighted five "surprising records" in the Major League in June on the 29th, citing Otani's "long-hitting power" in June.

Otani hit 13 home runs in June alone. On top of that, he hit seven more doubles and two more triples. Even before June was over, he produced 22 long hits with a double or more on a monthly basis.

The media is one of the five records and also included Luis Araez (Miami), who has a batting average of 0.436 in June. However, Araez has only seven long hits with more than two doubles in June. The media paid attention to the difference in the number of hits produced by Otani. Araez is batting .398 this season.

Thanks to Otani's performance, the Angels are also developing their dream of autumn baseball. As of the 28th, the Angels are in second place, five games away from Texas, the leader of the American League West, and third place after Baltimore and the New York Yankees in the league's wild card rankings. There is no game difference with the Yankees.

Along with the performance of these two batters, the media introduced Baltimore closer Felix Batista's June performance. Batista pitched 9.2 innings in nine games in June, posting a 0.93 ERA and seven saves. During this period, he struck out 20 and showed overwhelming performance, giving up only four hits.

The other two records are about the gloomy moves of the two New York teams. The New York Yankees' team batting average fell to 0.196 during the month of June. In terms of monthly team batting average, it is 30th out of 30 big league teams. The Yankees, whose team's on-base percentage is also at the bottom of 0.257, have not been able to overcome the injury gap of Aaron Judge. On top of that, the New York Mets have slumped to 7 wins and 16 losses since June. Among the 30 teams, the monthly team batting average of 0.225 (23rd) and the team's ERA of 4.49 (23rd) are all sluggish. In the eastern part of the National League, the team was defeated by the leading Atlanta by 16 games.
