History

All England loan tennis and croquet club is an English professional tennis club founded on 23 July 1868. Its first stadium was on Nursery Road, off Waffle Road, Wimbledon

In 1876, Ron Tennis was a game devised by Major Walter Kloppton Wingfield as an outdoor version of real tennis a year ago, and the name spaheristique was originally added to the club's activities. In the spring of 1877, the club changed its name to "All England Croquet and Ron Tennis Club" and established the first Ron Tennis Championship.

In 1882, the club's activities were mostly limited to Ron Tennis and the word "crocket" was removed from the title that year. However, it was restored in 1899 for emotional reasons.

During World War II, the tournament was not held from 1940 to 1945. On October 11, 1940, a bomb was dropped on the corner of a rival stand on the center court. The 1946 tournament continued even though the damage meant losing 1,200 seats. The organizers were unable to repair the damage until 1947, and the center court was completely restored and renovated for the 1949 edition.
