Nevada Casino Prepares New "Ticket-In, Bonus Out" Gambling Machine Technology Test

Gold Country In & Casino, located in Elco, Nevada, is preparing to launch a new gambling center ticket technology test developed by Acres Technology. Called "Ticket In, Bonus Out," or TIBO, the system is being overpackaged as a way to generate more revenue at the casino.

With the traditional "Ticket-in, Ticket-out" (TITO), customers can receive tickets in cash, which can be placed in a machine and placed in another machine, or redeemed in a cage. The system uses Tivo to predict when a session will end and print tickets that offer bonus spins.

"It's real-time personalization," Noah Acres, chief operating officer of Acres Technologies and the son of founder John, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "Amazon knows my preferences and Netflix knows my preferences. The game layers have to be the same."

John and Noah Akers say they can personalize Thibaut in any way they think casinos are fit to offer all kinds of rewards and gaming incentives.

But not everyone thinks Thibaut is a good idea. Amanda Blackford, director of operations and problem gambling services at the Ohio Casino Management Board, recently said the gaming expansion system is "one of the big risks" for potential problem gamblers.

"When you get a bonus, you can get tremendous damage because you think there's something special about it ... " she told reporters at the National Game State Legislative Council in Denver last month. " ...They think they're very lucky, they deserve this, they think they can get a real tailspin. So I'm worried about that."
