Steve Wolstenholme to serve as the company's chief operating officer.
The Philippines and Korea are considered highly profitable markets for the casino industry, as VIP gamblers from mainland China have preferred to travel to these countries and spend large amounts of money since Macau launched its anti-corruption campaign. Wolstenholme will now be responsible for overseeing the Manila Bay project, which includes a large entertainment complex and a casino. The project is expected to be completed before the end of 2016 and Wolstenholme will have to work hard to ensure there are no delays as the Philippine Play and Game Company (PAGCOR) strongly protests against gambling operations that failed to meet project deadlines. The Manila Bay Resort project is expected to cost more than $2 billion and will be completed in a multi-step rollout. Wolstenholme spent more than 30 years in the casino industry and worked with leading brands in the industry. Prior to joining Tiger Resort, he served as chief operating officer and president of Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, Nevada. Wolstenholme also served as chief operating officer of the Galaxy Macao Casino and ran one of the largest casino floors in the world. Wolstenholme holds a master's degree in business administration from Western Ontario University in Canada. Japanese billionaire Kazuo Okada, chairman of Tiger Resort, said the company fully trusts Wolstenholme's abilities because his past records have shown him to be a great leader and strategic thinker. Wolstenholme played a key role in a number of important projects, including launching the pre-opening phase of the Macau Game Project and renovating the 2,000-room game resort in Nevada on a budget of $100 million. Wolstenholme said in a statement, "The growing demand for entertainment real estate in the Philippines is an exciting challenge and we are honored and excited to be part of the Tiger Resort team. The company's goal is to deliver customers' needs and wants through innovation and that's what I'm trying to achieve." |
