Caesars Virginia LLC received approval for the upcoming Caesars Virginia Casino from the Virginia Lottery Commission on Apr. 26, 2023. The vote also paved the way for the temporary casino to open in mid-May. Scheduled to open at the end of 2024, the permanent casino will be Virginia's third. Caesars expects to invest more than $650 million in the entertainment complex. The company's temporary casino in Danville, Virginia, where the future permanent casino will be located, is expected to begin operations on May 15.

Caesars Entertainment and its recently announced partner, Cherokee Indians Eastern Band, broke ground on the $650 million Caesars Virginia Lake in Danville on Aug. 11, 2022. Plans for a premier destination resort casino under construction on River City's former finishing site include a 500-room hotel, a full-service spa, swimming pool, various bars and restaurants, a 2,500-seat live entertainment theater, 40,000 square feet of conference and convention space.

As for the games, the large casino floor will reportedly house more than 1,300 slots, 85 live table games, 24 electronic table games, WSOP poker rooms, and Caesars Sports Books.

Caesars Virginia is scheduled to open at the end of 2024.
