Scott McTominay, who has been with Manchester United for 22 years, is likely to finally part ways with Manchester United.
"The Athletic," reported on the 25th that "Napoli has agreed to recruit McTominay with Manchester United." McTominay joined Manchester United's youth team in 2002. Having grown up in Manchester United's youth system, McTominay began accepting opportunities in the 2017/18 season under Jose Mourinho. He appeared in 23 official games during that season. McTominay was noted for his vigorous activity and combative play. McTominay, who had been given the chance under Mourinho, began to extend his playing time, but his limits began to show. His weakness, gritty, was highlighted and he became a target of sale. Last summer, McTominay was linked to West Ham United and Fulham, but chose to stay at Manchester United. McTominay, who remains with Manchester United, showed outstanding scoring ability last season. He scored 10 goals and three assists in 44 games in the 2023/24 season. Although he scored at important moments, his overall performance was not satisfactory. McTominay has been named in Napoli's recruitment list this summer. Having announced a fresh start with Antonio Conte, Napoli have begun recruiting McTominay. According to Onstein, Napoli and Manchester United reached a deal for 30 million euros. The deal also included a Celon clause. Manchester United will seek to sign Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain when McTominay leaves for Napoli. Ugarte joined PSG last summer but was forced to the bench due to his unsatisfactory performance. Ugarte is also positive for the trend. |
