The Asian Poker Tour (APT) will return to the Philippines in 2016 with the APT Philippine Tournament at Resort World Manila from April 13-21.
APT CEO Jeff Mann said he was pleased that the APT Philippines will be on the stage at the resort's World Manila for the seventh year in a row. "In fact, this will be APT's 14th major international poker competition, featuring thousands of athletes from more than 40 countries. Hundreds of individual tournaments and a combined prize of all events worth well over $10 million are at stake - all APT events in Resort World Manila are great. They are popular," Mr. Mann said in a statement. Resort World Manila is hosting APT Asia Poker Series Manila 2015 this week. The winners will be announced later on Wednesday, the final day of the competition. According to a separate press release from APT, eight of the 341 contestants who played in the first three days of the competition will be eligible for the victory and 3.76 million prize money. The APT was founded in 2008 and held its first event in May of that year in Manila, the Philippines. So far, the APT has hosted more than 40 major events and numerous small tournaments, mostly in the Asia-Pacific region. The tour has visited Macau, Korea, Cambodia, Vietnam, India, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Mauritius. Resorts World Manila is operated by Travelers International Hotel Group Inc., a venture between Alliance Global Group Inc. and Genting Hong Ltd., based in the Philippines. The property is currently expanding and will be available in phase two by the first quarter of 2016. |
