Technical support issues

Ohio soon after voting in favor of Senate services.

Legalization and regulation of the DFS convention was recently discussed by Jonathan Deaver and Robert McCollie. On Wednesday, the majority of Ohio's Senate introduced legislation to approve the provision of DFS tournaments by licensed operators such as giant Panduel and DraftKings. Currently, the bill is patiently sitting at Governor John Kasich's desk waiting for his signature.

The bill also met opposition among senators. A total of four officials opposed the bill. Senator Bill Kohli did not throw his support behind the bill, explaining that regulating DFS would create favorable conditions for gambling-related issues among local residents. Because Senator Kohli might recall this, Senator Kohli suggested that DFS operators be taxed higher to fund the addiction awareness campaign. He claimed that he would not benefit from his commercial tax revenues in any way.

Why the Bill should be enacted
The bill argues that the outcome of a fantasy contest depends on the player's knowledge and skills, but not on luck. This means that DFS competitions are not eligible for gambling under existing state law. If Governor Casey signs the bill, the Ohio Casino Management Committee will be tasked with overseeing the industry. The bill bans college fantasy games, and even minors will not be allowed to play them.

Senator David Burke announced that leaving such a fast-growing industry unregulated is unacceptable because it diverts money from the government and protects the interests of participants. Optimists believe Ohio will soon join the remaining 16 states that already regulate the provision of DFS. Although it was held in an unregulated environment, it turned out that many people were holding DFS competitions.
