Starting with Jose Canseco (42 home runs and 40 steals) in 1988, Barry Bonds (42 home runs and 40 steals) in 1996, Alex Rodriguez (42 home runs and 46 steals) in 1998, Alfonso Soriano (46 home runs and 41 steals) in 2006, and Ronald Acuña Jr. (41 home runs and 73 steals) in 2023 have become legends.

Later, Ohtani failed to produce additional hits as he struck out swinging in the top of the fourth inning, grounded out to the third base in the top of the sixth inning, and struck out swinging in the top of the eighth inning.
