What about Ko Woo-seok and Kim?

The Pittsburgh club announced on the 31st (Korea time) that "it gave up right-handed promising pitcher Shim Joon-seok and promising infielder Garrett Forester to the Miami Marlins and recruited outfielder Brian De La Cruz."

In addition, Pittsburgh signed Toronto Blue Jays utility man Isaiah Kiner-Falefa and sent home and field prospect Charles McAdoo on the same day.

Pittsburgh started strengthening its batters and defense by recruiting two batters. As of Tuesday, its batting average was 25th in the team's batting average (0.231) and 21st in the average score (4.16), showing weakness in its batters. Pittsburgh is in a position where it is not impossible to hold a postseason, as it is tied for second place in the NL Central Division with 54 wins and 52 losses and tied for fifth in the wild card.

Shim Joon-seok, who moved to the U.S. last year, was unable to leave any results in the minor leagues due to his injury and moved to the minor leagues under Miami.

Shim has yet to play in a single game this season. He is recovering from his shoulder injury. Shim started four games and pitched eight innings in the rookie league last year, recording a 3.38 ERA, three walks and 13 strikeouts. Shim, who is ranked 17th in the Pittsburgh Pirates' list of promising players in this year's MLB Pipeline, is currently on the 60-day injured list.

The Athletic gave Miami a B- in a corner evaluating the trade and said, "Sim Joon-seok has the quality to achieve great success, but he has been on the injured list all season."

The media then said, "The Marlins, who have no reason to refuse anything, got a large right-hander from South Korea who is known to have excellent skills," but added, "He is only 20 years old with little professional experience, so instead of giving up an outfielder with only one tool, the Marlins brought a player who has low risk and can hold it for a long time."

Shim joined Pittsburgh in January 2023 with a down payment of 750,000 dollars when he was a senior at Deoksu High School. Shim dreamed of the future looking at the PNC Park ground after the joining ceremony, but failed to impress him for nearly two years. It remains to be seen whether Shim Jun-seok, who crossed the Pacific Ocean after being considered an "elementary and high school" pitcher in Korea with his fastballs in his late 90s, will have a chance to grow in Miami.

KBO right-hander Ko Woo-seok plays for Miami-affiliated Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos, but the possibility of playing with Shim Joon-seok this year or next year seems slim.
